Jumping in Jamaica

Sun, sea and red stripe.

Another cheeky trip to Jamaica with my gorgeous bride to be Helen.

Huge fan of my (well I actually bought them for hubby’s Christmas gift) SunGod sunglasses. You can design them yourself! And a really good price.

My mum always used to say to me, don’t give up your girls trips. She still goes away with her girls, in her early sixties.

She is totally right…if you can do it, a week or even a weekend with your girls is the best! Days dedicated to giggling, chatting randomness and sipping on cocktails is something I hope I will always do 🙂
Until next time Jamaica!

A Christmas weekend in Jamaica

December is an exciting month, what with with count down to Christmas, mulled wine and wondering if there will be snow. But it is also a cold & busy month.

With this in mind, we joined some friends on a weekend trip to Montego Bay in Jamiaca.

We stayed in the lovely Half Moon resort.

We grabbed our bikes and off we set to explore.

Bright & early each morning we cycled up to get our coffee and watch the guys collecting all the seaweed washed in by the sea. They told is that sometimes the sea brought it in right up to their shoulders.

We sipped bubbles by the pool and had lots of wedding chat (we are both getting married next year…exciting!).

Any photo opportunity is taken 🙂

What a lovely weekend.

Bardolino (part 1) – I think I love you

Stage two of our Italy tour took us to Bardolino. About 25km NW of Verona, it wasn’t a very long journey. We jumped on a coach, and got dropped off practically outside our hotel.

IMG_0893.JPG

Let me start off by saying how wonderful out hotel was. Villa Katy is across the road from the stunning Lake Garda. It is run by two beautiful sisters, who are a delight. They welcome you in to their hotel, and make you feel at home.

We discovered the roof terrace on our first evening. The hotel isn’t very big, so we didn’t expect it to be busy up there, but we were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves.

This view and location will forever hold a special place. Not only did I get to celebrate my birthday, drink champagne, watch a beautiful sunset and relax in warm weather with my favourite person.

I also got the biggest surprise of my life! My most favourite person got down on one knee with a ring that couldn’t be any more perfect. I’m engaged! Woo hoo. I have the biggest smile on my face right now, just thinking about it.

Verona – What a beauty

September 2014 was a pretty exciting month.

One of my oldest friends got married (you might’ve read this in the Laurabury ), I got to spend a week in Italy, AND I got engaged! Can I do September all over again please?

Stop one on our Italian adventure was Verona, the place of Romeo and Juliet. I had high hopes.

To start our holiday, a glass of bubby was a must, which also meant a new dress (obviously)

With a number of Italian flight and cab strikes, we luckily had no major issues, but felt a glass of the orange stuff (aka an aperol spritz) was essential.

IMG_0596.JPG

We found the cutest little place round the corner from our hotel that did lovely cheeses and wine. Our quick drink during the day, turned into 3 glasses of wine and lot’s of chattering on the bench outside.

We were pretty excited to be in Verona…

Our hotel was lovely, and had its very own red scooter decorating the entrance. Luckily, I didn’t have too many aperol’s, otherwise a scooter photoshoot (with me on it), would’ve been on the cards.

With limited time in Verona, we explored with a vengeance.

We wandered up little cobbled streets and steps (I hasten to add, on an incline), until we reached the top.

Totally worth the climb in my new (well charity shop) vintage shoes.

Exploring is hard work. A sugar fix was a must.

I don’t think I have every come across such an ice cream selection. It was a tough choice! I went for nutella…and of course shared John’s, what’s his is mine, and what’s mine is mine and all 🙂

I couldn’t help but snap random buildings. I find the architecture, colours and textures of Verona so pretty and a little addictive when it comes to the camera.

Verona, you little beauty. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Next stop, Bardolino.

Sunshine in Brighton

It finally happened!

After 6 years of living in London, I can finally say I have been to Brighton.

On a sunny Sunday morning we jumped on the train ready for a day of exploring.

We wandered down all the little streets Brighton had to offer. Even on a Sunday it was full of people, a real mix; families on a day out, tourists from far and near, hen parties feeling the aftermath of a big weekend.

(I was a little too caught up in exploring, tasting and watching, that I didn’t take many pictures, this is a just a little snippet).

We made our way out of the busy streets and landed on the beach.

We sat on the beach, soaking up the sun, smell of the sea and the noise of fair ground rides.

“What you looking at?”

20140723-115708-43028296.jpg

We found the most amazing little arcade full of vintage games.

A wonderful day out, not quite caught on camera.

I went home with a smile on my face and a souvenir from our success at the arcade.

Weekend in Gdańsk

I had never been to Poland before, so was pretty excited to get the opportunity to take a trip to Gdańsk at the weekend. (It is at the very top of Poland, on the Baltic)

We arrived Friday and had a weekend of food, drink and exploring. I think I need another weekend just to recover.

Our hotel was lovely – added bonus we had the top room with some great views of the Long Lane, right by the Green Gate.

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

We even came across Poland’s very own Kings Road (minus the shops!).

???????????????????????????????

Friday evening we enjoyed a cocktail or two (ok maybe three….).

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

We were lucky enough to be shown round Gdańsk on Saturday, so spent most of the day wandering around all the side streets and along the water, stopping off for coffee along the way, and a delicious fish lunch (sadly no pictures, but believe me, it was good).

We had a wonderful evening of food and drink. Now I am huge fan of cheese (with a boyfriend who doesn’t like it, I KNOW!!). I decided to order the cheese board anyway. When it stated it would take 20 – 40 minutes to arrive, I should have known it might be big..

???????????????????????????????

Thank goodness I ordered salad as main!

???????????????????????????????

John went for the steak.

???????????????????????????????

I would certainly suggest a visit to Gdańsk. It is a really nice little place to wander around and explore. We couldn’t believe how many bars and restaurants there are for the size of the City!

Now where to next…..

Flash Back Post – Japan

Call me crazy, but a few years a go I went to Japan….for the weekend.

It is the longest flight I have ever been on…but oh it was worth it. I managed a few (ok well maybe more than a few) glasses of fizz to calm the nerves, the lucky man seated next to me got 13 hours of chat and the 4 magazines I took to read didn’t even get touched – all in all a good flight.

Any how, back to Japan. So here we go, flash back to three fun days and a wonderful memory in photo form.
